    Type less, find more

Start with any part of a book's name, then the chapter and verse. VerseDash lists every match, best first, and keeps narrowing as you type.

j 2 2Every “J” book with a chapter 2, New Testament first: John 2:2, James 2:2, 1 John 2:2… then Joshua 2:2, Judges 2:2… and verses 20 to 29 too, since you may still be typing.
jn 3 16John 3:16 first, because “jn” is a common short form of John.
    1 j 31 John 3. A leading 1, 2 or 3 picks the numbered book.
1Every book that starts with 1: 1 Corinthians through 1 John, then 1 Samuel, 1 Kings and 1 Chronicles.
    sam 3Both 1 Samuel 3 and 2 Samuel 3.
jude 5Jude 1:5. In one-chapter books, a single number is the verse.
jn3:16Spaces, colons and periods are all optional.

    Made for the pew

    Works offline

Bibles are saved on your computer, so lookups work with no signal in the sanctuary.

    Silent by design

No beeps. If nothing matches, the Find box simply turns light red until it does.

    Fifteen free Bibles

King James, Geneva 1599, World English, Berean Standard, American Standard, Young’s Literal and more, each labeled with its year and translation style.

    Whole chapter in view

Pick a result and its chapter opens beside it with your verse highlighted, so you keep the context.

    Help keep VerseDash free

VerseDash will always be free, with no ads. Running it still costs money every year: web hosting, the app store fees, the certificates that let Windows and Apple trust the download, and the tools used to build it.

If VerseDash helps you, you can help cover those costs. Every gift goes to the costs listed in the breakdown, and nothing else.

    • No one is paid. VerseDash is built by volunteers.
    • Anything raised beyond the yearly goal stays in the VerseDash Reserve fund for next year.
    • The full breakdown is published here and updated every year.

    Questions

Is VerseDash a Bible reading app?

No. VerseDash is a verse lookup tool, not another Bible app. It has no reading plans, devotionals or notes. It does one job: when a verse is announced, it gets you there before the pastor finishes saying it. Keep your favorite Bible app for reading; use VerseDash to keep up.

    Is VerseDash really free?

Yes. There are no ads, purchases or subscriptions, and it never asks for an account.

    Which Bibles can I use?

VerseDash comes with the King James Version. You can add fourteen more free Bibles from openbible.com, berean.bible and eBible.org, including the Geneva Bible of 1599, World English Bible, Berean Standard Bible, American Standard Version, Darby, Douay-Rheims and Young’s Literal Translation. You can also import any Bible saved as one verse per line. Missing one you’d like? Suggest a Bible.

Why isn’t the NIV built in?

The NIV is copyrighted, so VerseDash can’t include its text. Instead, one click opens any verse in the NIV on Bible Gateway. If you want a modern translation inside the app, the Berean Standard Bible is free and reads similarly.

Where do the verses come from?

Every verse comes word for word from a published translation. Nothing is generated, summarized or paraphrased.

    Is my gift tax-deductible?

No. VerseDash is an independent volunteer project. Gifts are not tax-deductible. Every gift goes to the yearly costs shown under Help keep VerseDash free.

    Does it need the internet?

No. VerseDash comes with the King James Version and looks up verses completely offline. It only goes online when you download another Bible or open a verse on Bible Gateway.

What does VerseDash collect about me?

Nothing. Your settings stay on your computer. See the privacy policy.
